Margarita Khosh One Page Media Bio
Download Media BioBetween 2016-2018, Margarita traveled to the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe to perform Health Policy Analysis of countries ranging from UAE to Singapore to Germany. Though she was in healthcare since the late 90s, she was shocked just how different and complicated the US healthcare system really was, especially in the field of Mental Health. It is heavily regulated with policies that don't serve everyone and don't see the patient as a consumer. So, in 2018 after 20 years in healthcare operations, international training, Healthcare MBA, fluency in insurance terminology, and regulatory compliance, she launched MK Medical Solutions, LLC, with one mission, to provide clarity in changing healthcare with a vision helping health care professionals design a modern patient-centric experience that funnels to benefit all healthcare stakeholders by reducing cost, decreasing burnout, and contributing to a health system that works for all. Until COVID amplified the game.
Within the first few months of 2020, it was evident that our health care system was in real trouble. And, thanks to COVID, we're on the brink of the greatest mental health crisis in modern history. Thankfully, federal and state-issued executive orders made it possible for healthcare and mental wellness professionals to reach patients across state lines through temporary licensure, registration, and certifications. Unfortunately, no other field in the USA has as much variance in policy as mental health, making navigation of requirements and health care policies incredibly cumbersome. A provider may be an LMHC in NY, but an LPCC in CA, LIMHP in NE, LCMHCs in NC, and so on. Further, Marriage and Family Therapists and Mental Health Counselors are not reimbursed by Medicare, while a whopping 3,995 or 7.2% of Psychiatrists opted out of Medicare in 2020.
Winston Churchill said, "Never let a good crisis go to waste". For Margarita, the quote holds a special meaning because COVID took her father. As a result, she uses her father's memory to simplify and humanize health care policy.
Thanks to her therapist in another state, she was able to start healing through the wonders of a modernized healthcare experience.
